The purpose of the award is to recognize significant research advances in the science and practice of dermatology. The award has two tracks, one for basic/translational research and another for clinical research. One recipient from each track will receive a $6,000 prize and an engraved plaque during the Academy’s Annual Meeting.

Cochrane Scholarship
Application deadline: Sept. 15, 2023

The Cochrane Scholarship is founded on the goal of expanding the training in — and reach of — evidence-based medicine in dermatology. Two Cochrane Scholars will be chosen to receive a travel grant to attend the 2024 Cochrane Colloquium and develop a systematic review on a topic that supports AAD Clinical Guideline development. The scholars will ultimately prepare and submit a publication-quality systematic review for consideration of publication in JAAD, which should be completed within 12-18 months following the 2024 colloquium.

Innovations in Quality Improvement Award

Application deadline: Sept. 15, 2023

The Innovations in Quality Improvement Award recognizes dermatologists who are leaders in innovative quality improvement efforts in dermatology to encourage the adoption of meaningful QI practices in dermatology in order to improve patient care. The recipient will receive a $2,300 award, which includes funds for travel, registration, hotel stay, and project expenses. They will also be presented with a commemorative plaque and will be required to provide a presentation on their QI project at the QI Symposium at AAD’s Annual Meeting.

Development Advocacy Grant
Application deadline: Sept. 30, 2023

The Development Advocacy Grant is available to state dermatology societies that are newer to advocacy, having received either no previous AADA State Advocacy Grants or a maximum of two previous grants. The application requires fewer documents and is scored using different criteria to encourage less experienced state societies to apply and build an advocacy program.

Established Advocacy Grant
Application deadline: Sept. 30, 2023

The Established Advocacy Grant is available to state dermatology societies that have received more than two AADA State Advocacy Grants and already have a robust advocacy program, but need extra financial support from the AADA.
